is a saying, 'In India, Cricket is a religion and Sachin Tendulkar is its God'. The theme of the new bollywood movie 'Ferrari Ki Safari' is revolving around these two factors. We have got very few examples of movies, that was told in the background of cricket and its associated incidents. 'Aawal Number', 'Lagaan', 'Iqbal', 'Dhoni' (t) etc are some of them.
'Ferrari Ki Safari' is directed by new comer Rajesh Mapuskar, who worked as an associate director to Rajkumar Hirani in '3 Idiots' and 'Lage Raho Munnabhai'. The movie is produced by noted director Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The script is handled by Rajesh Mapuskar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Neeraj Vora. Rajkumar Hirani is the dialogue writer. Sharman Joshi, who did one of the leads in '3 Idiots', comes in the hero role here. He is supported by Boman Irani and Master Ritvik Sahore.
The story is about a boy (Master Ritvik Sahore) who plays cricket very well. His father Rustom (Sharaman Joshi), a government clerk, wants to make him a well known cricketer. He has to pay an amount of 1.5lacs, when his son is selected for a coaching camp at Lords, England. No banks are ready to give him loan. The boy's grand father (Boman Irani) is a good cricketer, who failed to reach the top, due to some cheap plays done by his colleague during one of the training days, in the past. At this time, Rustom is getting an offer from a lady (Seema Bhargava), a wedding planner, telling that she is ready to give the full amount, in return, he has to borrow Sachin Tendulkar's Ferrari car for one day, for the wedding of the gangster turned politician's son.
The movie tells the story of an average middle class man dreaming to achieve big through his son. The director should be praised for blending the life of a normal man
with Sachin Tendulkar's Ferrari car, a creativity which is an unexpected one. It is good to know more about the costliest car in the world like the position of its engine, use of different fuel in it etc. Sachin's original Ferrari is used in the movie, a special mention needed for the kind attitude of the car's owner and boldness of the director in using in this project. The characters of the wedding planner and her meeting with the politician and his son, the security and the care taker etc creates good humor. An emotional track is showed between the kid and his father and also with his grand father. Vidya Balan's item number is neatly added in the movie. Cinematography by Sudhir Palsane
is good. Songs and bg score are good for the mood.
The ending should have been more realistic, the tv visuals felt like a short cut job done by the creators. The length of the movie needs trimming from the editors Rajkumar Hirani and Deepa Bhatia. The climax scene participated by the majority of the actors in it, is just an added bonus to the proceedings, though it is not the best option.
Sharman Joshi did well in the role of a father, who dreams about his son's future. As expected, Boman Irani did a great job, with a good body language suited well for an old cricketer. Master Ritvik Sahore caught attention as the young cricketer. The combination of Aakash Dabhade and Deepak Shirke creates some laughing situations. Seema Bhargava is good as the wedding planner. Paresh Rawal did the guest show in a realistic way, with his experience. Director Rajesh Mapuskar did a fair job in his debut project, by selecting such an unusual theme.
